Do not look down upon the seemingly insignificant things you do in life,
when it seems like your words and or actions have been pointless.
When there are no numbers that add up to success,
When you have made SMART goals and you’ve fallen miserably short.
When you’re feeling discouraged, disappointed and disillusioned.
When you question the sense in ever pursuing this work.
Do not dismiss the smallness as failure.
Do not disregard the lack of measurable progress as nothing.
Do not minimize the work you’ve done in the quiet, hidden places.
Do not become discouraged or afraid when it seems like things are getting worse instead of better.
Do not believe the messages that say numbers tell the whole story.(Numbers may not tell any of the story!)
Do not believe that nothing is happening because you see nothing.
Do not believe that the obstacles are far too huge to overcome.
Do not even consider giving up!
Did not Jesus take a little boy’s lunch and feed over 5000 people?
Did not God take a shepherd, with a slingshot and one smooth rock to defeat a mighty warrior?
Did not God take 300 men to defeat an army of thousands?
It’s not by might or power says the Lord, but by my Spirit.
His Spirit works in the hidden places–within the depths of hearts accomplishing works too wonderful to understand.
He fights battles that are unseen to the natural eye.
So continue to show up everyday.
Continue to do the work from a heart of MUCH prayer and humility knowing that Jesus will cause your efforts to produce MUCH fruit. HE WILL DO IT!
Do not become weary in doing good for at the right time we WILL reap a harvest of blessing, IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP.
Do not dismiss the small things, for in God’s economy little things done from a heart of love, with complete dependence on our Great God, will accomplish GREAT and LASTING things–far more than we could begin to ask for or even imagine!
Even if you die never seeing the results, know when grace enters the equation, the results of our seemingly insignificant efforts go FAR beyond our ability to observe–even into the future impacting generations upon generations.
You matter and so does your work.

Alecia, I love this article! After I read it, I mused — “For all the number of times she wrote the term, ‘Do not,’ this is one of the most positive, affirming, encouraging messages I have read for a long time!”
Thank you for this. It’s beautiful.

Ha! Carolyn, I hadn’t thought about all of the, Do not’s” that I used. Do not’s are great when they remove burdens from us! I like those kinds of Do not’s. Thanks you so much for your affirming words Carolyn. I must confess,I wrote this message because it’s a message that I need to hear–often.

Thank Donna! I receive your blessings with open arms and grateful heart. I’m thankful that we were never meant to walk the journey alone. We need each other to remind us who we are and who we serve. He is a God that can be fully trusted. May our God richly bless you as well!
