I am so thankful for a new year. A new year represents a new beginning.
Starting over.
Hitting the reset button.
Second, third, and fourth chances.
New opportunities.
It’s an a great time to look a life with fresh eyes.
Perhaps your homeschool needs an Extreme Makeover!
After almost a month of overindulging on sweets, I find myself needing to get back on track with healthy eating again. I do this by going on a forty day fast. During this forty days, I spend time in extended prayer, and reflection. I usually leave this period with renewed focus, clarity and vision for our year. Then I’m ready to move and groove!
Life has a way of being filled with details, details, details. So many tasks need to be done. So many “good things” to do. These “good things” can so easily get us off track. We forget our destination, instead focusing on getting the next task done. You know, put your head down and “get ‘er done”. Every once in a while, we need to lift our heads out of the day-to-day tasks of life, and see the end destination. There is a point to all of this, right?
And if we find ourselves completely off course, we can begin again.
No matter where we find ourselves, we can begin again.
And we don’t have to wait until a new year.
Any time is a good time to begin again. Each day is new. Each hour is a new hour. Every minute is a new minute. It’s fresh. It’s never been seen before. It’s unexplored land. Your past does affect where you are today, but it doesn’t set the course for your future. You have the opportunity to decide that—today.
Right now.
In this moment.
Like the explorers of old, you can check your compass, consider your current position and set the course for your destination. Even if you’ve been traveling North for months, you can always change your direction. It may seem as if your hard work was wasted, but it wasn’t. Life is full of course corrections. Every step of your journey you’ve learned alot and hopefully grown as a person. Those lessons will be valuable assets as you continue on your life’s journey. The strength and wisdom you’ve received along the way will provide just what you need for the new challenges to come.
Our children need to know this.
A new page of math is–new. It isn’t yesterday’s work, it’s today’s. We cannot bask in the glory of past success nor should we sink into the pit of despair because of past failure. Gleam every nugget of good you can, and move into this new place. You have no crystal ball to predict the future. Neither do your children.
If you’ve been struggling with the same nagging problem, this might be the time to stop doing what you’ve been doing and trying something new.
This might be a great time to stop trying to figure it out on your own. I’d love to help.
Perhaps you just need a fresh face to your home school. Change up your school environment. Try a different curriculum. Find a different system of organization or method of teaching.
If you’ve found yourself in what seems like a hopeless situation, stop. Take a breath, receive some renewed perspective so you can begin again.
Today is a great day for a new beginning!
