Who Are You?
If I were to ask you, “Who are you?” How would you answer that question?
What if I added some stipulations to that answer, like: You can’t include any roles you have. You can’t include any of your accomplishments or failures. You can’t include any descriptions like: funny, smart, pretty, ugly, fat, athletic, etc. You can’t include what you do. Would you be able to answer my question?
Who are you?
When we are stripped of everything, all accomplishments, roles, natural abilities, and work–what’s left? Who are we then?
You’ve Been Chosen
You.
Yes, you.
You have been chosen.
Chosen to be the mother of your children.
Yes, you with the issues. The shady past. With all of your mistakes.
Yes, you. The one who doesn’t have your life all together.
The one who doesn’t have a clue what you’re doing.
The impatient one.
Yep, I’m talking to you.
I know you often think your child needs a different mom.
I know you wish you could be somebody else.
But you need to know that your children need you.
Not somebody else’s mom.
You.
I know you wish you weren’t sick.
Or so impatient.
Or that you were more talented.
Or ….. more perfect.
Or knew what the heck you were doing.
Your children need you.
Let that sink in to your very core.
Do you believe it?
The Master of the Universe, in His infinite wisdom chose you to be the mother of your children.
He had an infinite number of options.
He considered every possibility.
He weighed each one carefully and thoroughly.
He knew your issues.
He knows you through and through.
And He still. chose. you.
He is able
to take your brokeness
your inadequacies
your lack of understanding
your imperfections
and somehow
do something through you so magnicificent
that you cannot begin to fathom it.
You’re a mom.
You are precious.
The work that you’ve been given is life changing.
And you have not been left to accomplish this lofty calling unaided.
The God of the Universe is ready, willing, and able to help you.
You’ve been chosen.
Now step into your calling with boldness, confidence, courage, and humility.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Planning and Organization for the Creative, Free-Spirited Homeschooler
If I described my dream day to you, it would include waking leisurely, sitting down to a peaceful, nutritious and delicious breakfast and spending time connecting with the people I love most. My day would be unplanned, but full of thrilling moments of unexpected adventure, while simultaneously being very productive.
This is definitely a dream. Not a reality.
Being spontaneous, doesn’t go hand in hand with being productive.
I have to admit to you that I love having time to think, to feel, to create, and to connect. I like to breathe in the present moment, taking in every blessing, feeling the wind against my face, meditating on the beauty and glory of God. Imagining. Reading stories that take me to other worlds. Experimenting with colors, textures, and techniques as I create art. Talking to my good friends for hours about life, love, family and Jesus. Honey, that’s what I call good living. I NEED time like this. It recharges me.Continue Reading
